Texas SAR 250 Recognition Committee Purpose
The committee purpose is to insure approvals and administration for the silver medal. Interact with members and chapters on questions related to the medal application process and assist the national recognition committee as needed.
Program Outline
The SAR recognition program is designed to encourage and recognize those compatriots, chapters and societies that participate in local, state, national and international events which publicly educate, and recognize, honor, and celebrate the events and heroes of the period surrounding the American Revolution. Participation involves the planning and execution of these events, as well as attendance. The medal covers any event celebrating and promoting the 250th Anniversary. This therefore will cover any public events celebrating and promoting the 250th Anniversary in the period from 2014 to 2033.
Form
Forms may be submitted for multiple years. Scorekeeping is the responsibility of each compatriot and awarding authority. The awarding authority for each medal is as follows: the Bronze Medal is authorized and recorded by the local chapter; the Silver Medal is authorized and recorded by the state society; the Gold Medal only is authorized and recorded by the NSSAR 250th Anniversary Committee.
Texas SAR Compatriots Instructions
Members who complete 25 points of service in the 250th Anniversary Program may be approved for the Bronze Medal by having your Chapter President confirm your activity by signing your completed form. You or your chapter may then purchase the Bronze Medal.
Members who complete 60 points in the 250th Anniversary Program must submit your application to to allow you or your chapter to purchase the Silver Medal.
Members who complete 150 points in the 250th Anniversary Program must present your application to for authorization to purchase the Gold Medal.
Please present your Medal Authorization letter to your chapter for authorization to purchase the 250th Anniversary Medals from SAR Merchandise. Please keep your authorization letter as proof that the medal may be purchased in your name
