SAR Joseph Plumb Martin Video Contest

Purpose

The SAR awards the Joseph Plumb Martin Video Scholarship to students as an opportunity to explore events that shaped American history.

Conducted at the Chapter, State Society and National Society levels, the students must submit an original 3-5 minute video on topics pretaining to the American Revolution. Entries must contain ORIGINAL content and must be based on scholarly research of the presented topic. Content may not violate copyright laws. The subject of the entry should focus on an event, personality, document, or topic pertaining to the American Revolution. Emphasis on the 250th anniversary of the Revolution is recommended. The style, approach, and perspective are not limited.

Eligibility

Open to all (male and female) Texas public, private and home-schooled 7th through 12th grade.

Awards

Our chapter winner will recieve $50 and will advance to compete at the Texas State Society Conference (once the Permission / Release form is completed).
The Texas State Society Conference winners will receive:
- 1st Place – $3,500 plus some travel expenses as outlined on the state website. Also the winner will advance to compete at the National level.
- 2nd Place – $750
- 3rd Place – $500
The National Society winners will receive:
- 1st Place – $1,750, will receive a stipend of up to $1500.00 to reimburse travel to the NSSAR National Congress to participate in the Youth Awards Luncheon, normally in July.
- 2nd Place – $500
