Topics

  1. The Battle of Guilford CourthouseTime: 20 minutes
Battle of Guilford Courthouse is the story of the events leading up to the March 15, 1781 battle during the American Revolution. It took place of the farm of Adam Mitchell who was David Bowles’ SAR Revolutionary ancestor. The speaker has thirty years of research on this subject. He has written a series of books about the battle and the people of Guilford County NC.
  2. Children of the RevolutionTime: 20 minutes
Children of the Revolution is a talk about how the American Revolution, affected the Mitchell children who were on the field of battle during the Battle of Guilford Courthouse. They were sequestered in the spring house on the Mitchell Farm, during March 15, 1781 battle. They truly were America’s first generation of the sons and daughters of the American Revolution.
  3. Lost State of FranklinTime: 20 minutes
The Lost State of Franklin was a lecture David Bowles first gave at the Jonesborough, TN Public Library to an audience that was well attended by the public and the Washington County TN Historical Society. I reduced the story from a 45-minute lecture to a 20-minute talk about how Franklin came to within one vote of being the 14th State in the Union. The State of Franklin 1784-1788 was eight counties of present-day northeastern TN.
