Chapter President Tom Whitelock called the meeting to order at 8:00 am in the Bistro Room at the Crowne Plaza Suites, 7800 Alpha Road The President thanked the members who attended the memorial service for FCP Harry Post the previous Monday.

Chaplain Frank Pounders reported that Compatriots Peter Orlebeke and Bo Whitelock were noted in the sick call and as he lead the members in the Invocation for the day he asked all to remember in their prayers FCP Harry Post.

Compatriots Martin Lyford, Cole Youngman and FCP Cliff Slagle respectively led pledges of Allegiance to the United States Flag, the Texas Flag and salute to the SAR Flag. FCP Judge Tracy Pounders was in strong voice as he led us in the singing of "America." President Whitelock then called for all to remember to let the guests and ladies be first as the head table led the way to the breakfast line.

Prior to reconvening the business meeting at 8:30 am, the President played a patriotic musical interlude. Head Greeter Rick Fawkes was recognized for working the morning's greeters. In addition, a total of 9 guests (spouses included) were acknowledged. Chapter Humorist FCP Art Ingalls educated everyone on the finer points of the value of a husband.

Treasurer Allen Christian reported that 31 members were in attendance and that the checking account was at $270.25, the Minuteman Fund had $8,303.17, and the Richie Fund balance is $27,055,93. Voice vote approval of the report was made after Mike McKinney's motion and Glen Toal's second.

By motion from the floor by Frank Pounders and a second by FCP Judge Pounders, the minutes of the previous meeting (as posted on the website) were approved by voice vote. Registrar Mel McCoy announced that the current membership was now 275 with a number of pending applications. We are still working on those members who have not paid their 2005 dues. Texas SAR President Dr. James Heath then installed the new member Cole Youngman, whose Revolutionary War qualifying ancestor was Anderson Smith.

Robert Smith was presented a certificate for his new supplemental, Moses Trahan, and Tom Smith was presented two certificates for new supplementals on Timothy Delevan and Nehemiah Stebbens, the Elder.

Jim Templin invited the color guard to the Ennis Polka Festival on Saturday, May 28, 2005.

President Whitelock announced a tie in grading the Chapter Poster Contest had occurred between Roberth Duran of Sudie Williams Elementary and Jinny Soo of Berean Christian Academy and that both would receive gift certificates rather than savings bond awards since neither had a social security number. Roberth was selected to compete at State and won first prize.

FCP Judge Tracy Pounders was presented a State C.A.R. Promotions pin as our Chapter liaison. The President called upon hom to try working on a joint meeting with both groups this year.

DAR Liaison FCP Jack Carney mentioned that he intended to continue visiting with the various DAR Chapters on behalf of the Chapter.

Secretary Bob Clark stated that he had attended the State DAR National Defense Dinner the night before and listened to the speech of Gen. Tommy Franks.

Oration Contest Chairman (John) Mike McKinney introduced the 2004 chapter oration winner, Erica Lastufka. Ms. Lastufka gave her superb presentation about the role of pastors in the American Revolution.She was presented a certificate and a first place check for $300. President Whitelock thanked her for the fine Americanism program and then noted that Erica was recently selected as an award winner by the Society of the War of 1812 during the TXSSAR Convention.

First Vice President Tom Smith next introduced our Guest Speaker, Texas Society SAR President Dr. James Heath. Dr. Heath gave a few introductory remarks about membership growth of the Texas SAR, particularly in South Texas. He followed with his speech on medical science and doctors at the end of the eighteenth century. He include in his speech the particulars of the medical treatement of former President George Washington in his last illness.

Continuing with the TXSSAR Convention report: Chapter President Whitelock listed all the awards that the chapter won and acknowledged FCP Carney & Pounders for the chapter&'s success. Door prizes were won by Craig Youngman and Ralph McDowell.

The SAR closing was led by President Whitelock, followed by the Benediction from Chaplain Pounders. The meeting was adjourned at 10:04 a.m.
