Minutes of the regularly slated meeting of the Dallas Chapter, Texas Society, Sons of the American Revolution held on Saturday, October 13th, 2001 at Luby’s Cafeteria, 6221 E. Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, Texas.

Around or about 8:00 a.m. President Gary Sisson called the meeting to order.  The sick call was read and the invocation delivered by Former Chapter President and Acting Chaplain Art Ingalls.  Former TXSSAR President Graham Martin led the Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S. Flag.  Compatriot John Morton led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Texas Flag, and 2^nd V.P. Jack Carney led the Salute to the SAR Flag.  President Sisson led the a capella singing of the first verse of “America”.  Sergeant-at-Arms Tom Whitelock led the members and guests to the breakfast serving line. 

The greeters were TXSSAR District 6 V.P. Ralph McDowell and Compatriots George Cave and Barkley Miller.  Guests were introduced table-by-table by their hosts. The guest list is available from the Treasurer’s sign-in sheet.  Resident humorist Art Ingalls delivered the jokes of the month. A motion was made by Minuteman Editor Charles Baker and seconded by Secretary Nick Gilliam to permanently forego the reading of the minutes with the exception of the reading at the annual meeting.  The members voted overwhelmingly in favor of the motion.  The minutes of each meeting will be posted on the Chapter’s web site, sardallas.org.  Motions for corrections or additions may be made at the following monthly meeting.  Treasurer Tracy Pounders delivered the Treasurer’s report: Cash in the checking account-$2233.96, cash on hand-$100.00 and investment funds-$32,136.43.

Pat Martin, a member of the Jane Douglas Chapter, NSDAR, was presented with the SAR Medal of Appreciation for her efforts in procuring memberships for her male relatives in the Dallas Chapter, TXSSAR.  She also accepted membership in the Dallas Chapter on behalf of her uncle, Frederick Murphy.

New Compatriots Charles McKnight and John Stuart were inducted, and dual memberships with the Dallas Chapter for Plano Chapter Compatriots George Cave and Barkley Miller were recognized.  Treasurer Pounders gave a very moving Americanism presentation on the subject of  “September 11, 2001”.

The membership roster and the Speakers Bureau page are now posted on the Chapter’s web site. Members were reminded of the Board of Managers meeting in Wichita Falls on November 3^rd and 4^th. 

Flautist Emmanuel Prodan, who was presented with the SAR Bronze Good Citizenship Medal by President Sisson, played “America, the Beautiful” and was accompanied by those present singing the first verse.  Treasurer Pounders conducted a door prize drawing and President Sisson delivered the SAR closing.  Acting Chaplain Ingalls gave the benediction and dismissal at about 9:45 a.m.
