Minutes of the regularly slated meeting of the Dallas Chapter, Texas Society, Sons of the American Revolution held on Saturday, July 14, 2001 at Lubys Cafeteria, 6221 E. Mockingbird Lane, in Dallas, Texas.
Around or about 8:00 a.m., President Gary Sisson called the meeting to order. The sick call was read and the invocation delivered by Chaplain Frank Pounders. The Pledge of Allegiance to the United States flag was led by FCP Dick Jones, the Pledge of Allegiance to the Texas flag was led by Compatriot Rob Duckworth, and the Salute to the SAR flag was led by Compatriot Robert Coursey. President Sisson led those present in singing the first verse of "America". Sergeant-at-Arms Tom Whitelock led the members and guests to the breakfast serving line.
After breakfast TXSSAR District 6 Vice-President Ralph McDowell and Compatriots Don Hawks and Charles Bowling were recognized as greeters, and guests were introduced table-by-table by their hosts. There were 39 members and 12 guests present. The guest list is available from the treasurers sign-in sheet. Resident humorist, FCP Art Ingalls, delivered the joke of the day. The minutes of the last meeting were not read, as the Secretary was absent, but they are posted on the web site. Treasurer Tracy Pounders delivered the Treasurers report. Cash on hand and in the checking account totals $3,173.07, and investment funds total $32,815.80.
Registrar Don Hay inducted two new members, Rick Hawkes and Bob Fonville. 1st Vice-President Cliff Slagle gave the Americanism presentation.
The proposed amendments to the Constitution and By-laws were unanimously approved after a motion by 1st V.P. Slagle and a second by Dist. 6 V.P. McDowell. A plaque from Fannie Harris Elementary was displayed for those present, and FCP Mark Hansen was presented with the Meritorious Service Medal. Former NSSAR South Central District Vice-President Bob Coker installed Former TXSSAR President Dick Arnold as a National Trustee. 1st V.P. Slagle introduced the program, Dr. James Johnson, President of the Denton Chapter, TXSSAR, who spoke on "Voices of the Revolution". Afterwards, Dr. Johnson was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation and a Liberty Bell replica.
Treasurer Pounders conducted a door prize drawing and President Sisson delivered the SAR closing. Chaplain Pounders gave the benediction and the meeting was adjourned at approximately 10:45 a.m.
